It’s best to feed kitten with four or five small meals a day until kitten is six months old. After that, it can cope with two larger meals a day. Your vet will advise on the correct diet that kitten needs for nutrition.
For the sake of your furniture, it’s a good idea to get a scratching post. Kitten will need a bed or a cardboard box with an entrance and lined with a blanket. Kittens need stimulation and will appreciate some non-toxic toys. Caring for kittens entails registering with a vet, who will give the necessary vaccinations.
Another essential is a cat litter tray, tray liners and scoop. Caring for kittens is easier if you introduce your kitten into a routine straight away. Take kitten to the tray at the start of the day and at the end of the day and following meals. It will soon get used to it and using the tray will become second nature. Litter should be changed every day and the tray should be changed every week. If you do come across any cat faeces, keep away from children and bury it.

The first vaccination is given at nine weeks and the second series at twelve weeks. The booster injection is given annually.
